I am planning on joining the club soon and have been looking at air pistols. I have decided to go with the IZH 46, but am wondering if I should get the stock one or one with the upgraded trigger. The cost difference is only about $30.00.

Hi:
The Bikal "issy" is a great pistol right out of the box. My advice is to get the pistol without any bells and whistles. That fine shooting Airpistol (in my opinion) will out perform a lot of the so called "Match Guns" with premium price tags. Your making the right choice with the Bikal. If after your comfortable with your new pistol and you feel the need to upgrade then do so. In fairness the Bikal has many adjustments built into the trigger on the pistol already. I hope this helps with your decision. Great question. Semper Fi Jim Falotico

Ok, I bought a used Baikal 46M, put a new red dot scope on it and am in the process of getting used to it and zeroing it in. One thing I noticed is that this is a pretty front heavy pistol. I originally planned on using this for bench and for off-hand. I now find that I can't really hold it anywhere close to steady with one hand. It is just too front heavy. Does anyone shoot off-hand with these? Am I just a wimp?

They are a bit front heavy, especially with a red dot mounted. A lot of folks started with this gun or the Daisy 747. A few still shoot the IZH46 offhand, Leo B. for one with good results, others have moved on the PCP due to a little lighter weight and better balanced. Do a lot of dry firing at home and you will eventually build up the forearm muscle to where you should be able to shoot it offhand. If you are 70 or older, you can use a two hand hold which should help steady it.

So, you have confirmed what I already thought. I either need to get stronger or get a lighter gun. I think I will start with bench and fore go off-hand while I sort this all out.
Thanks for your help
