Hi Members, shooters and Friends:
I've included myself in helping to score our match targets at the Rohan Recreation Center every Tuesday.
Every volunteer who offers his or her time in scoring does an outstanding job to assure every target gets an
accurate and honest review.
Targets are scored/graded then passed to another member to double check values and then signed by both members.
in some cases errors (shot values or math) are found and corrected before the targets are entered into
record.
There are special scoring devices always on hand to aid in determining those very close calls including domed glass magnifying
lenses, professional tube magnifiers which show the exact .177 ring that is placed over a shot hole for exact scoring value.
Some members believe that a shot hole needs to break a scoring ring going inward to score a higher value.
This is not so, a shot hole merely needs to be tangent (next to or just touching) the next value inward to get the higher value.
There is one last tool that is used when every other option has been tried but the shot value is still in doubt, it's called a "shot plug".
if the shot plug is used and the value of a shot hole is determined by using the plug that hole cannot be challenged in the future.
Only one member is permitted to use the shot plug, our HEAD SCORER.
The most important link to your score is YOU.
It's important that you recover your fired targets, which will be on hand for at least three weeks.
Errors can and do happen and might find their way to you.
If you should find a questionable shot value, math error or if you need an explanation, don't hesitate to ask.
Changes are easily corrected with your help in finding them.
I love our shooting sports and the many friendships I've gained within our club.
Practice often and always share ideas.
Best Regards Always:
