The new season approaches and the latest member approved rule for offhand pistol allows 2-hand hold regardless of age. So my question to you elite 70+ shooters or ex-military/police members is.... what is the best 2-hand hold method for 10m air pistol using an existing target grip like on a LP2/10/Evo, etc.? It seems to me that using a different grip might be the answer, since most of the target grips are designed for 1-handed shooting. Dale

I find the best 2 handed grip for air gun pistol shooting is the same as I used for shooting the old 1911A1 hard ball gun in combat competition.
See page 4, of the new Members Guide for Information and Rules. At the very bottom of the page are 2 very good examples of air gun pistol shooting hand holds. The next time we meet at the air gun range as me to show you my pistol hand hold. Also, for those of you who think this will improve your competition shooting scores, get ready for an eye opener. All the 2 hand hold is going to give you is a little longer steady zone to get off your shot.
Remember to practice using the grip on the regulation air pistol target.
Happy Shooting.

I agree with your statement above, except in my case where I occasionally have an uncontrolled muscle/nerve tremor. I can see the 2 hand hold helping to keep it in the black vs. throwing it out into the 5/6 ring as when using a single hand hold. I'm willing to give it a try. I may not help but hopefully, it won't hurt my scores. See you at the range! Dale

Two things everyone has to learn in Off Hand Pistol Shooting. 1 Except the unsteady sight pictures. If the pistol sights are moving to much, put the air pistol down and rest your body, taking deep breaths. Most important part of the previous advice is put the air gun pistol down (to the resting position) and start your shot over. 2 Learn when you have held the air pistol up in the shooting position TO LONG. Put the air pistol down and start over. Learn to take your time and make every shot count, that is how you will get the big target scores. I cannot stress the above 2 steps enough. In other words, If something is wrong or doesn't look right, Stop and start over, don't waist the shot. Why settle for a 5 or 6 score, when you could have had a 10.
Happy Shooting

Great advice Jay! No. 2 is a hard lesson to learn, but I'm working on it. You have to re-train your brain from ...go ahead I can get that shot off, to .put the gun down and start the whole process over again.
